nong peding

i cannot exactly tell when i started going to a manoghilot...as far as i can recall, every time i have a cough which lasted for 2 days my mother would bring me to nong peding, the manoghilot...

nong peding is the town's manoghilot for more than one score already or maybe more than that...i do not know if it works really scientifically but i guess it does...it never fails to cure the cough due to bari...bari means fracture but you see it is not what you think it is...it is such a complicated things to discuss when i do not know exactly the technical terms to use...

hilot starts by getting your service number...when i was small...and i am still small...or maybe i should say when i was young, the numbers where cut out numbers from a lunar calendar...nowadays, nong peding has to write the numbers in carboard papers of cigarettes...then you wait for your turn...when your number is called, you will be asked to sit in his wooden chair and check if you have a bari by getting your pulse...we call it "pamulsuhan"...he can tell you need to have hilot by pulso method...parang si jang geum of jewel in the palace...young or old alike will receive a candy from him before he starts giving the hilot...before the session ends, he would ask you to apply rubbing alcohol where the bari is located...

what makes the hilot interesting are his stories while doing the hilot...since most of the clients are children, he would usually give sexual innuendoes as to the cause of the fracture...for the women, he would remark that it was due laundering...for boys, it was due to basketball...well, stereotyping emanates even in hilutan...

in hilutan, you can pay the manoghilot according to what is appropriate to his service...there is no such thing as fixed fee or even a minimum fee...you can actually ask for his service for free but it would result to bad karma...it is a must you must give him any amount.

hilot may be considered unscientific in this times...however if it works then it must be well practical...
